George Washington High School's second annual STEM Expo took place on Friday, February 21, 2014 in conjunction with Engineering Week. Projects, competitions, displays and demonstrations were held in various STEM classrooms.
This year's STEM Expo focused on inspiring innovation in building and design. Competitions were held during the day, including bridge building, edible car races, watercraft and Green Home designs. Innovative design ideas using smart memory wires, such as Nitinol, and nanotechnology demonstrations were also presented. The annual Mini-Golf Course challenge was expanded to 9 golf courses, with collaborative work between geometry and applied math classes, as well as the carpentry classes at Guam Community College. Over 700 students participated with various school community partners in attendance.
